Why Tequila & Mezcal

Tequila and mezcal may seem like niche spirits to warrant their own show. But those who know, know. They’re so varied and are appreciated by discerning drinkers and curious minds.

It may be known that terroir, time and tradition are integral aspects within the worlds of wine and whisky but these characteristics apply just as much to agave spirits too. The regions in which the products are made are imbued into their very framework. The agave plant has been prized for generations and has been used as an integral part of Mexico’s rich cultural heritage, being not only used in distilled drinks, but in food and textiles too.

Tequila and mezcal have their own Denomination of Origin (DO) regulations, just like wine has AOC.

Tequila typically takes around a decade or more to make – including the agave plant reaching full maturity followed by fermentation and ageing. These are craft products that deserve true understanding and appreciation.
