Aberfeldy, often referred to as the ‘Golden Dram,’ is known for its distinctly honeyed character, the result of long fermentations and slow distillations. This patient approach applies in the warehouse too, as the weighty Highland spirit that flows from Aberfeldy’s stills reaches its best when aged for extended periods, particularly in sweet wine casks.

Aberfeldy first fired up its stills in 1898, a stone’s throw away from the birthplace of its founder, John Dewar. An early pioneer of blended Scotch whisky, Dewar started out in the wine and spirits trade, before developing his blending business. In 1897 John’s two sons began work on Aberfeldy distillery to keep up with the demand for the famed Dewar’s blend. Today, this Victorian building not only produces the beloved Golden Dram, but also serves as a tribute to one of the great men of Scotch whisky, John Dewar.
