A 1979 vintage Japanese single malt whisky from Suntory's Yamazaki distillery. Launched in travel retail in 2008, this has been bottled at full strength at 29 years old after full-term maturation in a Japanese Mizunara oak cask (very unusual as these casks impart a very strong flavour and usually leak a lot).

    • Nose

      This one is big. Rancio, wood, dried fruit, lanolin, polished wood, some dried plums, old Christmas cake, sweet spice (cinnamon), touch of fudge, resin, incense, leather and a feeling of being in a traditional shoe shop.

    • Palate

      Big, rich, mouth coating and oh so creamy. Loads of sherry notes, dried fruits (fresh out of the pack), sweet spices, wood, Christmas cake, dark chocolate, After Eight mints, incense, coconut, hints of a vegetal character but also quite fresh too.

    • Finish

      Very long, rich and just utterly delicious!.
