Naked Grouse Reviews

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting Notes by Mark Gillespie, World Whiskies Awards

Complex with subtle traces of hazelnut, almonds, raisins, and grape juice. Smooth, but with a nice complex spicy blend of cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg notes. Buttery underneath with touches of tropical fruits. Lingers nicely with a good balance of spice and fruit notes consistent with the taste.

I am in my 70s and have never been a Whisky drinker . With the exception of maybe a good malt Whisky has always been very spirity to me. But today at the Waitrose Summer Festival I was offered a sample of Naked Grouse with a dash of bitters a pice of orange and topped up with lemonade. What a wonderful refreshing drink ! I am converted henceforth this will be my nightly tipple.

I'm not normally a whiskey drinker but received a free bottle from the nice people at Bzzagent, so thought I would give it a try. To some this may be sacrilege but mixing the Naked Grouse with cherry coke makes a great cocktail ??

Bought a bottle (on offer) based on various review forums and hate to say this but was massively disappointed. There are much much better whiskies out there for the same price. After a bad experience with the Smokey Black i thought I would try this expression but wish I'd not wasted my money and won't be buying any more of this brand any time soon. Sorry folks that's just MY opinion.

I'm really surprised. I did expect very mediocre blend given the reputation of Famous Grouse and sherry maturation. No sulfur in my radar, it's a small miracle. On the other hand the next batch can be sulfured, it's like russian roulette in these days, like Jim Murray pointed out lately. I will cherish my bottle, there are nice buttery sherry notes and in the finish there are soft but delicous tarry, liquorice twist. Wonderful actually, but I'm afraid Famous Grouse can't keep this quality given the production volumes and lack of quality sherry casks.

Wake up and smell the coffee!! A top class blend. Ideal for visitors to Whisky, something that people can enjoy. Whenever I see someone dithering over a whisky purchase i would recommend giving this a bash. It tastes Fab. This whisky doesn''t seem to have gone mass market yet. I only discovered it when having a few drams on the Macallan beat earlier this year.

A well constructed blend, but there is some excessive charring of the casks (wood smoke & ash) that spoils what otherwise would be a great blend. There appears to be considerably more malt than the standard blend but IMO they are using relatively young whiskies. I would like to see it released as a 12 year old, but age statements are not Edrington's current thing.

Nose and palate is good but lacks a solid midriff and finish. Sweet and smooth, but a structured and engineered blend.

This whisky is an absolute belter. It easily outshines other higher end blends that I have sampled, and the first reviewer is correct in saying that it is superior to many single malts of the same price - and higher. A masterpeice of blending and maturing with a superbly balanced palate and a lingering aftertaste. The elements of sherry and smoke are clearly present but do not over-dominate.

For the value it is pretty hard to beat. For something so dense and smooth if it was a single malt you would be paying triple. Great structure and hints of muddled raisins with honey and a touch of watermelon. Get this Grouse in your house

Started drinking Grouse as a result of being the beverage of choice in W.E.B Griffin novels. I came across Naked Grouse while returning from vacation. It is an excellent blend. I will soon be ordering the different Grouses as my primary drink of choice.

Astonishing whisky for the price. The balance is towards caramel speyside but with a hint of peat and spice.

My father thinks this is one of the finest blends he has ever tasted, which is a high accolade from him. Unfortunately its hard to get in NI.

A big fan of this. Smooth, fairly sweet and very drinkable. Worth a punt.

This is a gem! For a blend it doesnt nose or taste as though theres much grain in there.
