A special pot still whiskey-heavy version of Jameson. Black Barrel has lots of first-fill bourbon and sherry casks in the mix, giving it a much richer flavour than regular Jameson, with a strong sherried note.Tasting Notes (2)

Tasting Notes by Stuart P
Soft barrel-char aromas, along with sweet barley and cereal.
Very soft and smooth. Subtle spiciness and barrel char comes through, along with fresh fruitiness.
Smooth and balanced.
Tasting Notes by Dominic Roskrow for Whisky Advocate
Bright sparks, these Jameson guys. This takes all the worldwide quality and balance of the standard bottle and adds a large dollop of pot still whiskey, providing plummy, rich fruits to the mix. They may have also upped the effects of oak, too, so there's an extra depth to the whiskey. Fans of the brand will love it, and pot still whiskey fans will appreciate an affordable full-flavoured blend.

Amazing. Sweetly smoky but very easily drinkable. I enjoy over Ice. It’s smooth without a horrid aftertaste, and affordable. Would buy again.
Very smooth however I think it tastes like bourbon rather than Irish whiskey.
I love fresh pan-fried mackerel: serve it with some new potatoes with plenty of olive oil and lemon with a side of salad and I'll weep as I think of happy sunny days by the coast. I also love New York cheese cake, maybe with a cheeky bourbon on the side and finish it off with a medium roast espresso and everything is just right. However, if someone stirred all those wonderful things up in a bowl and served it up to me, I would turn my nose up in disgust ... And that is Jameson Black Barrel. It is utterly lacking in synthesis and harmony. We have overpowering vanilla clashing with delicate Midleton pot still to yield a confusing cacophony of nonsense. It is an abomination and needs to be removed from human history. Bring back Jameson 12. BRING BACK JAMESON 12.
This is easily one of the best Irish whiskies I've ever tried. Despite the fact that it's a blend I believe its quality can easily put it up there with any single malt or single pot still in its price range. Jameson Black Barrel has an EXTREMELY strong vanilla taste, and some rich creaminess, a taste that resembles dried fruit such as raisins, some very faint citrus, and a taste that I think is most accurately described as smokey, but not a peaty smoke like from an Islay Scotch, it's more like a smokey taste from the charred barrels. The only downside this whiskey has is a slightly bitter, grassy finish along with a distinctive grain whiskey taste. That is a bit disappointing. But all things considered I think Jameson Black Barrel is fantastic, a brilliant Irish whiskey, nice for warmer weather, and can and will be enjoyed by newcomers and advanced drinkers alike.
Ones of the best Irish whiskies I have ever had. A big fan of the Black Barrel, so much so that I have stopped going back to single malt scotches when there is a black barrel. Love it!
