It seems that some of the whisky you mentioned are Islay malts, a perfect excuse for the alcohol to "hide" amongst the peaty and smoky combos..Clearly why a 60.3% cask strenght Speyside malt is not the thing for you. As for other readers, I do recommend you give it a try,.. Surely not for the faint-hearted!!
I have tasted several single malts. Ardbeg, Glenmorangie, Laphroaig, Highland Park, Pultuney are some of my favorites. Professionals recommend this single malt. Nose: punch of alcohol, let alone the cup for a few minutes and guess what another punch of alcohol. Finally, vanilla, sherry and wood. Taste: robust, pepper, spicy, alcohol. This particular batch I would not recommend it. You better spend your money on something else.
