Product Description
The 2013 release of Peat Monster commemorates the 10th anniversary of Compass Box's creation of "Monster" for the Park Avenue Liquor Ship in New York. This is a blend of Islay malts, both from the south of the island and from the village of Port Askaig combined with Clynelish from the Highlands. It is matured in a mixture of American Oak and 2% new French oak for finishing purposes.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
-
Tasting Notes by Rocky
-
Nose
Vanilla and apple notes (almost the sweeter, rarer yellow variety) with a briny, salty style of peat.
-
Palate
Vanilla notes come through, along with the waxiness that Clynelish is known for, apple notes that were present on the nose and a definite maritime character.
-
Finish
A rather long sweet finish with peat that’s really well balanced by the fruitiness all the way through.
-
Comment
Doesn’t seem as peated as one may expect from the name, but this is more than likely just down to the balance of the other flavours meaning it’s not overpowering. A delicious whisky that’s deserving of its anniversary commemoration status.

Producer's Note
-
Intense aromas of peet-reek, smoke, seaside character and burnt ropes, with a subtle apple-fruitiness in the background. The palate is full, round and tremendously complex. Water brings out a spice- laden, sweet vanilla character, as well.
