Previously only released as part of single casks, Nikka decided to add their Coffey Malt to their core range in 2014. Distilled in a Coffey still normally used for grain whisky production, the malt is delightfully fruity and spicy.

Fresh and clean, with aromas of candied lemon peel and rich cake spices.

Robust and spicy, quite a dense mouthfeel and richly textured, with cinnamon and clove on the palate, and citrus-tinged freshness to lighten the load.

Harmonious blend of dense spices, rich oak, and lemon and orange notes. Delightful.

I can’t recommend this whisky. I’ve been drinking whisky of all varieties for years now and this is one of the worst valued whiskies that I have tried. The nose is nothing short of offensive, it tastes like bottom shelf whisky, the mouth feel is dry and acrid. For the price I could get two bottles of Suntory Toki which is superior in every way.

Lovely with an ice cube added, I felt this brought out the flavours a lot more. Love the coffey grain too!
