Big tropical-fruit aromas at first – mango and pineapple – followed by sweet and savoury notes of ham glazed with Demerara sugar and a whiff of barbecue smoke.
More sweet fruit, tempered by savoury smokiness. Punchy and full-flavoured, with the meaty smoke balancing well with the refreshing tropical fruit. Mouth-filling texture; makes a statement!.
The smoked-meat notes gently fade, along with a hint of spent match.
A world away from the delicate Speyside style, this is full of fruit, fire and flavour.
Producer's Tasting Notes
Bonfire night: aromas of oozing toasted marshmallows, and baked apples studded with cloves, with the tang of sulphury, cordite lingering in the background.
To the taste this 13 year old Craigellachie delivers malty, sweet complexity, with a finish that is slightly smokey.

Great balance between smoke and sweet. Great robust character but sweet finish. First time but a fan
Definitely a very original and great tasting whisky. 46% and non chill filtered does a great job here. Everything is quite well in balance with eachother. Smells strong and fruity and indeed it can be quite spicy on the tongue (a bit of water and letting it breath indeed helps to ease this out). The taste quickly develops into a smooth meaty flavour, which is haven't tasted before with any other whisky. Great job by this distillery. Let's pray the quality stays consistent!
Really fine stuff. Initial impression is of spice on the nose and palette, but that all changes with addition of water and time. Added water and let sit in the glass for 1/2 hr. before diving in and was rewarded with the fruity nose and palette notes mentioned by others. It was a completely different animal and worth the wait. I'm a fan of the smokey stuff, but didn't get any of that here. Finishes with spice and some sourness, but in a good way. Be patient and enjoy. It won't disappoint!
