Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting Notes by Jim Murray

    • Nose

Sharp, grassy maltiness and a touch salty. Full of character.

    • Taste

Ultra malty start, rich textured and mouthwateringly in the Clontarf style.

    • Finish

Varying shades of malt, then a late oaky complexity.

    • Comments

A deceptively distinguished malt that offers more complexity than first meets the eye.

I good Irish whiskey, a little sweet, but not bad for the price. Pleasantly surprised by this mystery whiskey.

As for me Irish whiskey is good and better. This tipple falls into the "Better" A nice relaxing tipple that has a sweetness to it, I'd buy and have bought this one again

You can do well at this price in Irish whiskey, but they have recently sneaked in a couple of stinkers we won't mention. Clontarf is head and shoulders above the fray and for the money it is in my top five whiskey values. As pleasant a surprise as Elijah Craig 12 is to bourbon. Give it a go. Putting my finger on it I get hazelnut after a clean nose. Understated vanilla lingers through the finish. Can't lose.

This is an excellent single malt for the cost and fares better without ice
