Product Description
Lp is known for being the most richly flavoured Scotch whisky. This one is no exception, with bags of flavour, yet an unexpected elegance. Matured in first-fill bourbon, the dense peaty reek has been tempered with sweet vanilla, making this very moreish. For fans of the cask-strength Laphroaig, this offers all you want and more. Serge Valentin called this one 'excellent'.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Tasting notes by Serge Valentin, Whiskyfun.com
Colour
Gold.
Nose
Much closer to the distillate, cleaner, brighter, tenser, and yet not exactly explosive (so to speak). What’s sure is that the briny and medicinal style is much more obvious. Kippers too.
With water
Becomes extremely medicinal. Band Aid, camphor, embrocations… Laphroaig, eh.
Mouth (neat)
Typical clean, pungent, yet perfectly balanced arrival, between lemons, smoke, brine, and this little rooty side. It’s this citrus that I was missing in the OB. Goes on with more citrus, a little vanilla (lemon curd, tarte), and always this salty and coastal side.
With water
An earthy peat comes to the front. Some grass, grapefruit skins….
Finish
Long, well chiselled, salty, with a minty side. More kippers in the aftertaste. Comments: maybe is it very young, but it does feel like a 1998 or something.
Excellent. SGP
457 - 87 points.
Tasting Notes by Rocky
Nose
Surprisingly restrained for an Lp at first and needs some time for the notes of iodine, brine and black pepper to come to the fore.
Palate
As with the nose, there’s an elegance to this sixth release. The peaty character is very much in evidence, but there’s a hint of vanilla in the background. Water brings this out, as well as pineapple and mango.
Finish
Long and dry, with underlying vanilla spice.
Comment
A versatile dram – if you’re after a big savoury whisky, this is the one for you. On the other hand, if you like more fruit to balance the smoke, then adding water does the trick. Depending on my mood (and the British weather), I’d be happy with either!.
