Suntory Hibiki Harmony Reviews

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting Notes by Stuart P

Nose: Beguiling aromas of apricots, orange blossom and marmalade, bolstered by subtle spiciness, too – cinnamon and clove. Elegant and seductive.

Palate: The generous fruit continues on to the palate, with oranges and apricots in abundance. There’s a little peppery spice, but the soft, succulent fruit takes hold. Nice balance, and nicely crafted.

Finish: The spiciness takes over from the fruit and lingers, along with a little barrel char.

Comment: Something of a baby compared with much older Hibiki bottlings, this retains the classic soft, elegant orange-blossom character and generous fruitiness, with a little spice to help things along.

  • Producer's Tasting Notes

    Colour: Amber.

Nose: Rose, lychee, hint of rosemary, mature woodiness, sandalwood.

Palate: Honey-like sweetness, candied orange peel, white chocolate.

Finish: Subtle, tender long finish, with hint of Mizunara (Japanese oak).

Just amazing – the first whisky I enjoyed.

Sweet citrus which gives way to spice and oak. A touch of water almost erases the citrus, making it sharp and spicy. Recommend neat or in a Japanese Highball.

exactly what Luke says: "Thin, sweet and strongly floral. Smooth in aftertaste. Too sharp up front for me." love the finish, but up front it is rather sharp.

The best I tried, citrus flavor with a long finish in taste, did not expect this in a Japanese whisky

One of my favorite whiskys. Excellent balance. The nose is my favorite out of any pour I've experienced so far. The scent of dried fruit and baking spices takes the forefront, then spreading out to make room for the introduction of extremely light smoke and that buttery note that is so classic in Suntory products, with a nice floral character rounding it all off. The palate matches nicely as well, apricots in abundance, circled by those wintery spices, and the subtle warmth of black pepper and mizunara oak. The finish focuses mainly on those wood and pepper notes without becoming overbearing whatsoever during the course of it's medium length. In conclusion. A fantastic whisky thats rich with i teresting character and a lot of nuance. Though a bit overpriced given the recent boom within the japanese whisky industry. Which brings it down to a 4.5 for me but I'll still give it 5 stars because we can't use decinals here.

I have been drinking whiskey for 34 years and after trying Hibiki I feel like I was scammed by the marketing. It's thin, it's floral, it's a blend of nasty. Sorry folks but this can't hold a candle to any number of good blends.

I purchased hibiki harmony on a whim. As a musician, I can say that harmony is an apt descriptor. There is no dissonance here. As other reviewers have mentioned, it’s light, but not because it lacks substance. It’s light because everything is in balance. The subtle sense that all of the harsh flavor profiles that can exist within a whiskey are present but in a proportion that cancels... that’s the predominant aesthetic. Precariously sweet, subtle and warm without being syrupy. Curious... blindness in direct opposition to emptiness. .125hz from in tune. Pleasantly pensive.

A little soft and light for me. A well-made whisky, sweet and light, but I would prefer a little more substance

A good whisky but far over priced. I also own the 12yo but really of you want a similar sweet complex experience then dont buy this. Buy the barbados 5yo plantation rum. I kid you not! its similar but ?25 and id actually say nicer than this nas offering
