Clynelish 1995 Reviews
Tasting Notes by Billy A
Nose: Sweet orchard fruit, candied lemon peel, spring meadow flowers and gentle hints of floral scented candles. With some time in the glass, fruit comes to the fore, with sharp and pungent apples backed up by sweet and fragrant pears, and fruit tree blossom.
Palate: Sweet and spicy off the bat – barley sugar and cinnamon shortbread, with chocolate digestives and fruity chews. It develops in the mouth, adding white and milk chocolate, and butter-cream-covered sponge cake. Underneath the sweet and creamy notes is a layer of fruit, with sweet apple, pear and pineapple joined by some fragrant resinous notes.
Finish: Initially spicy, but turning creamy before sharpening to a fruity end.
Comment: A classic Clynelish with a bit more: sweet, zesty and fragrant with some hidden depths.
