Launched in 2015, Karhi from Finland's Teerenpeli was aged for five to seven years in bourbon casks before being finished in Madeira casks for the final year. Hints of sweetness and spiciness with notes of peppermint and dried fruits.

Nose
Sweet and fruity – crunchy apples, rhubarb and custard boiled sweets, green leaves, fruity toffee and peppery touches.
Palate
Soft and creamy to start, with spiced sponge cake stuffed with apples, raisins and candied peel. Custardy notes grow through the centre of the palate, and with them come more spice, and cooling mint and menthol.
Finish
Lots of spice initially, with cinnamon and nutmeg fading to sweet and creamy butter. As that disappears, it's replaced with fruitier notes of apple and liquorice, that turn slowly to fresh-tasting mintiness.
Comment
Very much a concentration of Teerenpeli's style, combining sweet creaminess with crunchy fruit. The extra age adds more depth and some gentle spice, as well as herbal notes that draw the whole lot together.

Golden yellow.
Nose
Malty, sweet vanilla.
Palate
Oily, pleasant vanilla with a bit of pepper, Aftertaste is warm, long, soft, a bit of apple cake with vanilla sauce.

Quite boring. Better options available, even from within Finland.
Great! Reminds me of Speyside/Highland single malts. Expensive but the quality is there. The question is if there are similar quality products cheaper? sure. Are they from Finland? No. So it is one of a kind product and in my case I was happy to pay.
