Zuidam Millstone 2009 Barrel Proof Rye Reviews
Tasting Notes by Stuart P
Nose: Sugar-coated baked apples with a side of marzipan and toffee. Rich and inviting, with notes of spicy rye, cinnamon, pastry dough and salted caramel, but balanced with aromas of Seville orange peel, orchard fruit and a soft floral note.
Palate: Rich mouthfeel, with toffee and sweet spice initially – spiced rye bread, roasted almonds and glazed citrus peel, joined by cinnamon-cookie dough and salted butter. Big and spicy, but never gets out of hand, thanks to the soft fruitiness.
Finish: Full bodied but well balanced, with the richness and spiciness working perfectly together.
Comment: Full of flavour despite the relatively young age, this is bursting with sweet spice and fruit.

An absolute gem of a Whisky. Certainly in my top 10 Rye's I've ever experienced.
Very underrated. People seem to want to spend twice as much on sourced American rye and ignore gems like this.
