Customer Rating
Edition No.2 is a collaboration between master blender Bob Delgarno and legendary Spanish chefs Joan, Josep and Jordi Roca. A combination of sherry puncheons, butts and refill hogsheads, this is a deliciously floral and fruity whisky with notes of tropical fruit, black pepper, liquorice and brandy snaps.

Compared to the similarly priced Ruby (about $140 US in Canada) this has a lot better concentration and stronger flavor . More interesting and challenging. I thought it was a bit acidic at first (sort of like a plum brandy), but a few month after opening the bottle, it mellowed down and developed more desirable profile, enough to find it quite enjoyable and finish the bottle. Most times I found it too strong to be sipped neat, so I'd add ice cubes for slight dilution and to tone it down. For the price, I will pick something else next time, but this is quite different and something to be experienced by the more adventurous. .

A great scotch! I loved No. 1 and I am looking forward to No.3. I will buy several bottles of No. 2 before they get hard to find like No. 1

Clean and bright. Spicy presentation and smooth finish. That's it. I'm out of fancy whisky words. Delicious single malt whisky, well worth the cost.

Nose is fruity and quite complex, but also little sweaty. Palate is nicely oily, balanced, but quite acid too. Will tone down over time and with water. I think this is little bit too bourbon lead, probably to compensate ever worsening problem with sulfured sherry casks. Over all pricey and not value for money.

This smells lovely. Rich, sweet, spice. It's got that typical macallan wood on the nose too. First sip and it's typical macallan and then so much more. There's the wood and spice but there's huge waves of rich, ginger snaps and ginger biscuits, amazing dry woody structure, black pepper, a slight molasses, almost rum note. There's a lot going on in a nice way. A the flavours seem to be pointing in the same spicey, sweet rich direction. It's a very well make whisky. At 48% it works really well with a slash or water. The dry spice hit is replaced by something a bit softer, bigger, more cosy and slightly less dry. Be be fair it works both ways though. If you wa by what it has turner up to 11 have it neat, if you want a more relaxing sip a splash of water transforms it. A great scotch from a distillery that, some of its recent missteps aside, really are masterful.

I'm a bartender that usually prefers a good Bourbon or Rye Whiskey, but the Macallan #2 has such complexity while maintaining it's drinkablity that I consider it one of the best single malt Scotches that I have tried; and I've quite a few.

It has a great sweetness and strength, but still the Macallan smoothness on the back end. At this price it's also a good deal.

I never understood the hype about Macallan and their prices. This, however, changed my opinion totally. Well done Macallan !
