This smells lovely. Rich, sweet, spice. It's got that typical macallan wood on the nose too. First sip and it's typical macallan and then so much more. There's the wood and spice but there's huge waves of rich, ginger snaps and ginger biscuits, amazing dry woody structure, black pepper, a slight molasses, almost rum note. There's a lot going on in a nice way. A the flavours seem to be pointing in the same spicey, sweet rich direction. It's a very well make whisky. At 48% it works really well with a slash or water. The dry spice hit is replaced by something a bit softer, bigger, more cosy and slightly less dry. Be be fair it works both ways though. If you wa by what it has turner up to 11 have it neat, if you want a more relaxing sip a splash of water transforms it. A great scotch from a distillery that, some of its recent missteps aside, really are masterful.
great 5 star
I love it ! What's beautiful taste ??
I'm a bartender that usually prefers a good Bourbon or Rye Whiskey, but the Macallan #2 has such complexity while maintaining it's drinkablity that I consider it one of the best single malt Scotches that I have tried; and I've quite a few.
It has a great sweetness and strength, but still the Macallan smoothness on the back end. At this price it's also a good deal.
Wonderful drink! Have always liked Macallan but this is one step up the notch! Well balanced !
It might be a NAS but it is absolutely delicious, my favourite Macallan by a mile.
Perhaps the best scotch I have ever put in my mouth. Ever.
I never understood the hype about Macallan and their prices. This, however, changed my opinion totally. Well done Macallan !
Wonderfully sweet and spicy. Great value for money. Like tiramisu simmered in whisky and ginger. Really, that good.
The best widely available Macallan in recent years. Very good stuff and extremly quaffable!!!
Best Macallan I've had in some time, apart from the 18y.o. ... the rich fruit & clove and sweetness. Fantastic, and a fair price by Macallan standards!
