Roe & Co was launched in 2017, marking Diageo's return to Irish whiskey. A blend of malt and grain from various distilleries across the country, it's been matured predominantly in first-fill bourbon casks. This has a velvety, creamy texture and notes of sweet fruit and vanilla.Tasting Notes (2)
Tasting notes by Billy Abbott (The Whisky Exchange)
Spice and vanilla: custard tarts dusted with grated nutmeg. Lemon zest follows with fresh fruit – sweet pear, fruit gums, peach and pineapple cubes.
Creamy vanilla before fruit – pear and apple, sour lemon, unripe mangoes and gummi fruit. Spice builds, bringing biscuity and Ryvita notes. Creamy apple and pear sit underneath everything. Water amplifies the fruit.
Pear skin, whipped cream and touches of sour apple.
Producer's Tasting Notes
Creamy, delightfully fragrant and remarkably rounded with notes of soft spice and mellow spun sugar along with warm hints of woody vanilla.
The quality and perfect balance of the blend is immediately apparent on the palate through its velvety texture and sweet flavours including spiced pears and vanilla.
Lingering and gentle, ending with a light creaminess.
This is one of the worst whiskeys I have ever tried.
Had a double shot in a pub and it was 1 of the best i have ever tried for the price I have had over 5 bottles of Middletons very rare Irish whiskey which is more towards the higher price range
meh, very very mediocre...tastes like a cheap poorly executed whiskey, even at the low price i paid..would not purchase again.
Just tasted this as the opener on the Workd Whiskey Advent Callander Nose I get Pear as the dominant note, then on tasting chocolate comes over the top. The is a hint of cream. Palate: Creamy consistency that begins to warm and and release a cinnamon spice. As the tongue touches the top of the mouth toffee apple notes reveal themselves. Finish There is a warm burn on the insides of the cheeks.it ends on a light spiced pear. Overall: I was not impressed by the label and the name of an Irish Blended Whisky but I have to say this is a nice dram. It has a warmth and simple flavour suite that is actually quite refreshing.
Saw this on offer and thought I would take a punt based on the very good reviews. These people aren’t wrong. It has a good nose as described with lots of vanilla notes. On the pallet it is really good starting with the velvety texture, creaminess, pears, vanilla and pear drops. The 45% really adds to the flavour. It is so smooth and a great sipping whiskey. One of the best blends I have tasted with the malt dominating over any grain.
