A new sherry-led expression from Aberlour, Casg Annamh – Gaelic for 'rare cask' – isn't pulling any punches at 48% ABV. Triple matured in European oak ex-sherry, American oak ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks, this is a bold, flavoursome and exceptionally balanced whisky full of fresh fruit, sherried nuttiness and woody spice.

    At this price I would expect something pretty decent. In reality this nothing more than an average no age statement whiskey, it lacks depth and flavour like all no age statement whiskeys I have tried previously.

    Butterscotch. Sherry. Smooth. Those are the top three words that pop to mind when I sip this whisky. It has a rich texture and it is full of flavour.

    Give it time to settle and you will enjoy its first offering. Add a couple of drops of water, allow to settle again and this time you will get a wonderful whisky experience.
