Not sipping rum in my opinion

Rum is my passion and this bad boy hits the spot. I normally avoid the Bacardi brand like the plague, but wow this is superb, it really is. Is it better than Havana Anos 7? Yes. Is it better than Appleton’s Special Reserve? Oh yes!! I don’t know what’s happened here, whether Bacardi have jumped on the premium rum bandwagon, or maybe it’s time to release some real deal rum. The smoothness is second to none followed by a wonderful palate cleansing taste of nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves, plus a finish of a sweetness that’s not of a fake additive, but of maple and soft brown sugar. You have to try it – it’s the bomb!!!

At this price, an absolute steal. Deliciously smooth with a tropical, banana nose.

Seems like I'm the only one who finds this too sweet? Also it does not seem to have the depth I expected for an 8 yo. But it is very smooth and drinkable straight..still I will probably mix it.

Smooth and sweet as bourbon. You really can't compare this to black or white. This is as much whiskey as rum..

The smoothest rum for £25 by a MILE. In fact it's smoother than rums I've had which are twice as old and twice as pricey. If you don't normally sip rum neat because it's too fiery then this will change your mind. Tastewise it's a bit fruity and oaky with some caramel too - i.e. it tastes like good rum. Very highly recommended.

I bought this as nothing more than a mixer to try it. Poured some in a glass just to see what it was like neat and could not believe it. Very good for the money and actually prefer it to some I have tried at more than twice the price. Good inexpensive stuff.

If you want to enjoy a pleasant and satisfying drink then take a tip from a very satisfied customer. It requires a good measure of Bicardi 8 yrs old rum, a slice of fresh lime, half a can of coke and three crushed ice cubes - all in a nice crystal beaker - so delicious.

A classic rum, but much prefer XM Royal 10yr...more depth of flavour, real character. Zacapa too sweet, great introduction to rum category but not for real rum connisseurs.

Preferred to sip Bacardi over Myers's until a good friend served Pampero Aniversario. Talk about mellow, fellow.

Suprisingly nice for a Bacardi. Smooth and can be drunk neat, although it does work well with coke. I actually think this is better than mount gay extra old

I have a Zacapa and a Bacardi 8 at home. I totally prefer the Bacardi 8 because it has character. It is extremely mild and smooth. At the same time its flavour has all the charakteristics that make an exeptionally good spirit: notes of oak, smoke, nut, fruits marry with the typical rum taste. Bacardi 8 is in line with my other favourite spirits that cost up to 5 times the price.

It's okay. Zaya and Zacapa are wayyyyyyyyyy better.

This is a smooth, great flavoured Rum, very much worth the price. Be warned, it spoils you! It's goes down like velvet, and it sneaks up and packs a punch (in a good way ;)). A wonderful drink to share with close friends.
