A mellow, balanced rum from Barbados, Mount Gay Extra Old has been matured for at least eight years, creating subtle, fruity flavours. Notes of ripe bananas, freshly-baked pastry, toast and warm spices build into a smooth, rounded finish.

Founded in 1703 by John Sober and Sir John Gay, Mount Gay Rum distillery in Barbados has been producing quality rums since its inception. Using the extensive natural resources of the Caribbean island, Sir John Gay quickly started using molasses to create rich, balanced rums.

    • Aroma

      Spicy apricot, ripe banana and vanilla with rum and raison ice-cream.

      Fiery but velvety, honeyed palate with cooked fruit, ripe banana, toffee apple and sweet pastry notes overlaid with spicy oak - cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg.

    • Aftertaste

      Long dry oaky finish. Light-bodied but very rich and full-flavoured.

    This is my go to rum, when I think of rum this is what a think of. The nose is fruity, toffee, and oaky, and the taste is warm enough for winter, and tropical enough for summer. I can't recommend enough.

    I’m not a general drinker of strong alcohol, but this rum has an excitingly exquisite taste for the European palate! Very interesting to find new experiences in alcohol. For non-purists... absolutely wonderful on simple vanilla ice-cream!
