An excellent overproof potstill Navy rum from Guyana. With its rich demerara flavours, this is another good alternative for a float on cocktails.

As good as it gets. Like the real thing in the RN up to 31st July 1970.

This is a great dark rum, very rich and full of caramel. Unfortunately I never experienced true black tot, and many seem to dance around woods/pussers in that department. Though for me, this is my choice when I cant get hold of a bottle of Skipper. On the plus side ITS STRONGER...

Excellent. The only one. As other ex-RN posters, the only one that reminds of the tot. There are others who claim but they pale into insignificance. Don''t believe me? Try it and never look back!!

Oh how I miss Woods 100. Not apparently available in New Zealand I have to rely on visitors to me from the UK to supply me. All too rare unfortunately, but when they arrive - party time.........

Strong and lively flavour enhanced when mixed with Irn Bru and a slice of Lime. I''ve tried various mixers but settled on Irn Bru with slice of Lime as the best flavour boost.

Mainly a Scotch and American wisky drinker and when I do drink rum, it''s golden rather than dark. Found this to be surprisingly palatable, given it''s strength and type. Won''t win awards for subtlety and complexity but good flavour and good value. I drank it neat and with ginger beer and ice, which was better.

I concur with most of the comments I just read. I am a rum drinker. Wood's 100 Navy Rum is the best I have ever tasted. I bought a bottle at Heathrow last year on my way back to Canada.I enjoyed it to the last drop.Too bad it is not available in Canada. I am waiting for a friend to stop over in UK and buy me a couple of bottles.

I'm mostly a whisky drinker (have had some great drams from the Whisky Exchange!) but a drop of rum makes a very nice change occasionally, and this one is particularly rich and flavoursome - lovely!

I've had the privilege of being a 'rum bos'un' in the navy, and in my opinion Wood's 100° was practically indiscernible from the real thing.

Must say, the finest I have ever tasted. Incredible flavour, and deeply satisfying. One of the few things, today, that is value for money. Reminds me of assembling for grog!

Woods 100 has to be the nearest thing to an RN tot - Since leaving the RN as a Chief in 1971 this is the only rum I can drink and be instantly taken back in time to 'Up Spirits - Hands of messes for Rum'.

Powerful stuff. Strong demerara Navy style rum. Pot stilled for that strong flavour and at 57% will blow your socks off. It's not refined and you won't be "noticing hint's wet dog and cigar wrappers" or anything but it's a solid example of the style and damned tasty.

Had my one and only tot for the Silver Jubilee and Woods 100 is the only one I ever drank after that always neat of course.

  • 29 January 2012

One of the best mass produced rums, intense blackcurrenty flavour, the demerara shines through and despite the high alcohol still slips down lovely with a lingering pleasant aftertaste. I don't usually like ice with my rum but a single cube will ease the somewhat bitter edge off. I wouldn't waste a rum of this quality in cocktails or as a mixer, it deserves to be sipped neat. If Pussers is not on the menu this will do nicely.

STILL HERE DRINKING MY WOODS STILL THE BEST

  • 23 October 2011

After sixteen years sevice with the navy i tink i know what is the best rum, but this one (woods 100) comes a very close second, pussers more refined but woods has a deep depth of flavour. ex navy

Wow amazing stuff straight up. Nice dash of spring water brings out some stunning flavours..

I'm not a rum drinker, so cannot compare, but I found this to be very delicious with a few drops of water.
