Haig Gold Label
Product Description

A truly historic brand of blended Scotch whisky. John Haig set up the Kilbagie distillery in the 18th century, although his family were noted distillers some time before that (his great-great-grandfather was busted in 1655 for distilling on the Sabbath). His grandson (also called John) founded the Cameronbridge grain distillery in 1824, while later noted members of the Haig clan include WWI Field Marshal Douglas Haig, who was so magnificently lampooned by St. Stephen Fry in Blackadder Goes Forth.

Had a bottle few years back. Recently bought a bottle with 43% abv. This bottle has more flavour due to the 43%. The grain whisky is not prominent. Malty aroma and taste took over the grainy taste. Some sherry influence on the nose and palate. Not too smooth with slightly smoky, spice and medium finish. Not complex but definitely one of the best budget whisky. I will surely buy this and Whyte & Mackay over Famous Grouse, Ballantine and Grants

Love Haig whiskeys. First time drinking Gold Label and not disappointed. A subtle nose and a smooth body with smokey fruit flavour that leaves your pallette refreshed and ready for more. Consume slow, let the flavour grab your taste buds. A definite must in your collection.
