A truly historic brand of blended Scotch whisky. John Haig set up the Kilbagie distillery in the 18th century, although his family were noted distillers some time before that (his great-great-grandfather was busted in 1655 for distilling on the Sabbath). His grandson (also called John) founded the Cameronbridge grain distillery in 1824, while later noted members of the Haig clan include WWI Field Marshal Douglas Haig, who was so magnificently lampooned by St. Stephen Fry in Blackadder Goes Forth.

    Täydellinen makuelämys. Tuulahdus menneisyydestä?

Love Haig whiskeys. First time drinking Gold Label and not disappointed. A subtle nose and a smooth body with smokey fruit flavour that leaves your pallette refreshed and ready for more. Consume slow, let the flavour grab your taste buds. A definite must in your collection.

Picked up a bottle in Greece for holiday drinking, really suprised at how much I enjoyed it. Not as much depth to the flavour as other more expensive whiskies, but that's why they're more expensive! Will buy again.

For me this was Christmas family favourite from the 1960's. I am now in my 60s and can still recall the flavour of a cup of tea with a teaspoonful of Haig. Wonderful memories.

Tried this twice and both times found it marred by unpleasant off-notes. Would only recommend as a mixer.

Smoky but with smoothness, Haig Gold Label deserves much wider appreciation. As old-fashioned as its brown bottle, it uniquely offers much of the pleasure and character of single malt whiskies, in an easy-sipping, affordable blend. Moderately smoky and peaty like many single malts, with light spice notes and increasingly pleasant after-taste, Haig Gold Label is an old-style superb full-bodied blend, giving antique 'true whisky' satisfaction. More for experienced whisky tasters; recommended.
