Product Description

A warm and spicy single malt from Glenmorangie that embodies all of the comfort of a Christmas jumper. Matured for 13 years and finished in Marsala wine casks from Sicily, this whisky offers aromas of orange toffee, lavender honey, rose petals and overripe fruits that fill the nose. The palate offers notes of cocoa powder, red pepper, brazil nuts, toffee, white pepper spice, sweet malt, ginger and cinnamon that linger in the finish.

First nose is expensive, with cognac and a hint of fresh US dollars, a strong scent of melting brown sugar permeates through all, with some fallen flower petals that had no fragrance until they started to decay. Leading into tart apple, grape vines and leaves, that fades into vanilla meringue. Upon sipping, this is clearly Nectar D’or mixed with the Cognac finished expression. I’ve never had the glenmorangie cognac expression, but I have had the Glenlivet’s. This tastes just like that intermingled with Necatr D’or. The two combine to give the flavor of the white powder on yellow grape skin, red apple skin, plus some Cabernet that quickly disappears into black cherry cream. Sweet tannin pepper again a hint of US dollars. It all leads to the long Sauternes finish that to me tastes like summer, except, somehow, with the warmth of winter from the cognac. Four stars. Because at this same price, similar to what I saw in the Tale of Cake reviews, I would be happier with a bottle of Nectar D’or or Glenlivet cognac finished, along with a bottle of Glenmorangie 10.
