Product Description
The fourth release in The Lakes Distillery's Whiskymaker's Reserve series has been matured in a combination of oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, as well as ex-red wine casks, creating a well-balanced whisky with a complex character. The palate offers notes of Manuka honey, sun-dried dates, roasted cashew nuts, dried fruit, sweet spices and cream that linger in the finish.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
-
Billy Abbott, The Whisky Exchange
-
Nose
Honey, raisins and dates up front. Fruitcake builds, with a brown-sugar crust and sticky caramel sauce on the side. Rich, old brandy notes develop – sticky fruit, forest floors and polished oak – along with vanilla sponge.
-
Palate
Thickly textured and surprisingly soft. Ginger cake and brown sugar lead to the fruitcake from the nose, now singed around the edges. Maraschino cherry notes build, joined by bitter chocolate and char.
-
Finish
Lingering spice and dark-chocolate-covered candied ginger fade to leave vanilla toffee.

Complex, balanced and a perfect sipper. Rich christmas gingery cake in a bottle. Mouth coatingly delicious. Will be looking to buy again if can find it

Raisins, and gingerbread in the middle with a bit of tar and strong bittersweet chocolate notes in the medium, dry finish. Tastes a lot like American single malts. I'm just not a fan of whiskies with dry finishes. If you drink enough of it (3 pours), there's a noticeable buildup of sticky, cherry, toffee notes in the palate, that just aren't there in the first pour. I guess its a good whisky if you're having a few. lol.
