The rich, dark character of this thoroughly modern blended whisky is achieved by marrying malt and grain whiskies matured in bourbon and sherry casks seasoned with red wine. The vibrant fruit and spice notes that red wine influence affords make Black Ruby an excellent choice for cocktails like the Old Fashioned or Whisky Sour.
In a grocer's shop in Kilmarnock in the early-19th century, John Walker laid the foundations for the most successful whisky brand in history. The sherry cask malt in this dram does help clear some rough edges the black label is famous for. A little tiny trace of peat smoke and plenty of sweet sherry, good dram to mix with a splash of Bunna 12.
