Old Overholt Rye was first introduced in 1810 and is aged for a minimum of two years in American white oak casks. Originally distilled in Pennsylvania, this whiskey is currently owned and made by Beam Suntory in the State of Kentucky. A spicy and dry old-fashioned rye that has a gentle and mild taste of lingering fruits.

Exceptional.
Old Overholt is a clean and simple rye whisky. There's little by way of complexity or aftertaste. There is a light bite to it, and certainly drinking it is overall a pleasant experience. I would recommend it as the base for an old fashioned, the flavour doesn't overpower the orange and bitters. Rather like an improved version of the Jim Beam rye; not surprising given the producers!
How can you go wrong with Doc Holiday's favorite tipple! Nuff said.
This is truly a treasure and beats bourbon any time. And I'd rather it remain an obscure brand, that's produced in small batches for a limited audience of true believers.
A smooth drinking rye. From the days of the Whiskey Rebellion until Prohibition in the U.S., when one ordered a glass of straight whiskey you received a glass of rye. I'm told this is good example of what most whiskey distilled outside of Kentucky and Tennesse was like. However, what I can tell you is that Old Overholt has a great flavor, spicy without being sweet or smokey like Bourbon or Tennesee whiskey. A favorite of mine for over a dozen years!
