This single malt produced by Goalong distillery in the mountainous Hunan province of south-central China was matured for five years in ex-bourbon casks. The temperature variance of the region has accelerated the ageing process and brings complex aromas of hazelnut and honey on the nose, with cinnamon, toffee and soft smoke on the finish.

    Jonathan,

    Not the greatest nose, but a pleasant fruity taste that recalls some of the newer English single malts. This bottle comes in a very elaborate box which I shall keep and re-use. The whisky can only get better, but so far its rivals from Taiwan should not worry about the competition.
