Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

  • Joe Rogers (The Whisky Exchange)

    • Nose

Vanilla flowers, rice pudding and a slice of apple tart. Then yellow cherries, green leaves and freshly mown grass.

    • Palate

Leafy and lightly spicy, with celery leaves, chamomile, gorse flowers, sencha tea, pear skin and green olive oil. A mineral undertone shows chalk and white stones, while alpine herbs bring to mind good dry vermouth.

    • Finish

A faint prickle of oak spice followed by more stone fruits, those yellow cherries and slightly underripe plums and apricots.

Speyside in Bloom

Glentauchers distillery, located just outside of Keith, favours long fermentations and slow distillation to create a nuanced and floral style of single malt. We sampled casks from across Scotland to find the perfect whiskies for The Seasons: Spring but the combination of light American oak influence and subtle herbal aromas made this one a particular standout. This is a whisky made for enjoying with friends in mild weather.

The Seasons: Spring

To capture the flavours of spring for the final instalment in The Seasons series, we’ve paired this remarkably bright and expressive Glentauchers with a spritely Linkwood and a fresh young Caol Ila packed with barbecued peppers and green asparagus notes. Every bottling in the collection is from a specially selected single cask, offered without any additives or chill filtration to ensure a clear expression of distillery character.
