Product Description

Seventeen years is old for a bourbon, but Master's Keep spent a lot of those years in stone warehouses, which are more forgiving than the more common wooden storehouses, slowing down maturation and allowing the liquid to spend more time in cask. The result is a moreish, chewy bourbon with plenty of cinnamon and green almond. Remarkably fresh given its age.

Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting Notes by Stuart P

    • Nose

Markedly different to the rest of the Wild Turkey range, this is almost savoury, with notes of green almonds, a touch of marzipan and a slightly waxy note.

    • Palate

Plenty on cinnamon on the palate, and a moreish, chewy mouthfeel. Savoury and nutty, with good texture. This doesn’t have the opulent sweet spice of other Wild Turkeys; instead, this is a fresher, more refined style.

    • Finish

Despite its age, the oak influence doesn’t dominate at all. The nutty spiciness gently fades away.

    • Comment

Master’s Keep spent much of its life stored in a brick warehouse, not the more typical metal. Brick warehouses have different temperature variation and air circulation, and maturation is slower. This probably explains the clean, fresh quality of the bourbon, despite its 17 years.

Soooo good with so much depth of flavour. Savoury toffee popcorn in the mouth with a super long finish. Very intense but unexpectedly does not have a very heavy overpowering mouthfeel, quite elegant.

Managed to pick a bottle up at the distillery and after waiting over a month to try it I can tell you it's fantastic. Smooth and morish, wood doesn't dominate much like other older bourbons. One for special occasions.
