Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Billy Abbott, The Whisky Exchange
Nose
Intense stewed fruit notes roll out of the glass: chopped dates and prunes, Eccles-cake raisins and raisin jam. Sweet spice hides behind the wall of fruit, peeping out and leading to rich, dark, fruit cake.
Palate
Thick, dense and, at first, almost impenetrable. It slowly gives up its secrets, revealing more intense fruit notes: dried fruit, uncooked fruit cake batter and candied cherries. Sweet spice sits in the middle surrounded by raisins and prunes, all dusted with dark brown sugar.
Finish
Maraschino cherries, raisins and prunes slowly fade to leave spiced fruit cake.
Comment
A huge sherry bomb, with layers of dried fruit and spice slowly unfolding as you spend time with it.

Customer Reviews

I bought two bottles. I opened the first with a friend who rarely drinks anything but Islay. After the first sip his smile told me all. I tried my share and was in the same world of satisfaction. Very smooth, very warm, full of flavour and seeming to last forever. I rarely comment on whisky as I cannot usually find adequate words but am happy to make an exception. Well done TWE, even better than the 10 year old you sold me a couple of years ago.
