William Whiteley & Co Ltd was founded in the early 1900s and in 1928 released what would be its well-knowne blend of Scotch whisky: King’s Ransom. King's Ransom was a meaty, musty dram and a unique blend at the time, House of Lords blended Scotch was soon to follow and was in production until 1996 where the name was protested in the Houses of Parliament.
