Wild Turkey Rare Breed Reviews

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting Notes by Stuart P

Nose: Plenty of plump raisins and sultanas, with heady notes of ground almond and marzipan. There’s also the clean fruitiness of green apple to balance things out plus some spice in the form of white pepper to lift the aromas.

Palate: Rich, sweet and spicy – baked apples drenched in honey, dried fruit and cinnamon. Rich texture, mouthcoating and very seductive.

Finish: The rich spiciness and sweetness lingers, with everything in balance.

Comment: A superb bourbon, this overdelivers in terms of the sweet fruit and spice, but it never feels cloying or heavy. Great balance.

The first thing I ever bought form an abc store, it was one of my great grandfather's favorites so that in mind, it was the first thing I tried after my 21st birthday, to say the least I wasn't disappointed. I'd take a bottle of Wild Turkey Rare Breed over a bottle of Jack Daniels any day.

It is softer than my 2008 at 54.1% surprising if only you could find the Legend Tradition or Reserve.

Wouldn''t purchase this again for the simple fact that it hardly got me tipsy, the 101 is one of my favourites and I thought I''d give the rare breed a go, I did and won''t be buying again

top quality bourbon, you'd have to spend a quite a bit more to get something marginally better. if you like Wild Turkey 101 then its a no-brainer, although its slightly stronger its actually more refined, the few extra %s add a whole lot more flavour, you won''t find a better bourbon for the price

Very good, takes a little time to ignore the strength and savour the underlying taste but when you do well worth having

This is an excellent Bourbon whiskey. Definately well worth trying. Smooth- Full of flavours -Good VFM. I do like Wild Turky Whiskey. An evening sipper or with a small amount of water to just take the burn out Rare Breed will cheer the cockles of your heart. It's the perfect cure to the winter blues.

This bourbon is smooth as silk with a rich warm taste that hides it high proof and will chatch you with you if you don't respect it.
