Tasting Notes by Tim F
Nose: A sweet-smelling nose of toffee biscuits and cut flowers, then some faintly bandagey / swimming pool aromas and a distinct nuttiness. Really opens up after ten minutes or so in the glass, with mossy oak and some fruit aromas coming through.
Palate: Medium-bodied. Very sweet initially, with gooseberry fool and the bandagey notes, plus a lot of summer fruit flavours (think I even found some strawberries!). Then goes very apple pie, with cooked kitchen apples and some pastry notes, sugared almonds and some cinnamon & clove spice, the latter two of which are really emphasised with the addition of a few drops of water.
Finish: Medium length with the fruits slowly fading into the spices.
Comment: Becomes quite startlingly fruity after ten minutes of settling in the glass, but retains its oaky grip.
