Product Description
Launched at The Whisky Show 2014, the first bottling of heavily peated Port Charlotte made with Islay barley has been released. It's crisp and clean, with a engaging mix of fruit and cereal and an elegant peatiness. Despite the abv, we prefer it without water.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes by Stuart P
Nose
Subtle smoke at first, then clean, crisp notes of pears and apples, plus grainy cereal. Very elegant and fresh – this has a definite spring in its step.
Palate
Very fruity on the palate, with fresh apple and melon, ably supported by oaty, biscuit notes. Peat is more apparent than on the nose, but is still restrained, and doesn’t dominate. Don’t add water – this dram doesn’t need it, and holds up far better without it.
Finish
Fresh and fruity, with a wisp of smoke and barley adding complexity.

Great example of how well a young and heavily peated whisky can work. Herbal, fruity and peaty.
While certainly an enjoyable whisky, this one seems sort of like an experiment to me. It is as though someone wanted to see how peaty they could make a whisky while still keeping it palatable. Unlike many other heavily peated whiskies, like Ardbeg for instance, this one seems to lack the depth of character that I find in theirs. Tasting notes: Whole grain toast Apple cobbler Wet leaf Mouth feel: Medium oil Finish: Smoky with a hint of maple I'd recommend this whisky to those of you who prefer flavors of peat over sweet and smoky flavors.
This is my first experience with Port Charlotte & as a fan of peat this hits all the right buttons for me. There is only one thing I wasn't banking on & that was the fact that after slowly sipping the dram for nearly 1hr by the end it had started to make me feel sleepy (which by no means is a bad thing for me). It was packaged extremely well & from now on the whisky exchange will be my go to when looking for a new dram to try. Top Notch!
I really like this one. I can taste it from nose to finish without offense.
