Customer Rating

Masons Gin is made in the town of Bedale in North Yorkshire. Produced in 200-litre batches using a secret blend of botanicals, this makes a citrusy G&T. For an alternative - and delightful - long drink, try pairing this with rose lemonade.

Just over a year on - and with a lot more gin-tasting experience under the belt - and have indeed returned to Yorkshire gin. Having given it five stars originally, I feel an idiot for changing my rating so completely, but there is no point pretending! For gin martinis, I have come to favour a very clean style, epitomised by East London Batch One, Crossbill, good old Tanqueray etc - and, while I like the smack of Yorkshire Gin, I now find the aniseed (and lavender) hit overwhelming. At the time, I was trying gins laden with botanicals, including Italian recipes that were pale brown in colour, and the only way I can explain my previous enthusiasm for Yorkshire is that it tasted cleaner than other things I was trying at the time! Well, we live and learn, and I'm sorry to have changed my mind (and my rating) so drastically.

Our absolute favourite gin! Bought originally in Yorkshire whilst on holiday and we are now committed drinkers! It is unique. Smooth with lots of botanicals and citrus. A winner.

A little too harsh for us. Not bad but not great either

Excellent gin for a martini - clean and bracing with just a hint of lavender among the botanicals. A pretty big hitter strength-wise, which is surely how a dry martini should be. Made acquaintance with the gin via a miniature included in my Christmas stocking, which also included some Jensen's Old Tom and - wait for it - my first Monkey 47. Enjoyed them all. Will certainly be getting a full-size bottle of this fine, heartwarming Yorkshire gin.
