Tasting Notes

  • Tasting Notes by Simon Difford for Class Magazine

Clear, mid golden amber with polished golden glints

Lemon zest, icing sugar and green apple skin with vanilla and buttery almond croissant.

Honeyed yet robust and lightly spiced with lemony citrus, vanilla and plenty of spice.

    Vanilla oak and enlivening spice.

    Diffordsguide Rating - 4/5

  • Tasting Notes by Dr Whisky

Sweet fresh apricots, oats and malt. Slightly phenolic with magic markers and ash.

Big maltiness, rich breadiness that is quite toasty. Grilled cheese sandwich. Hay.

Simple, malty, and easy drinking. Feels like it is on the verge of exploding with heights of flavours, but never really takes off. But this is not necessarily a bad thing. Rounded, straighforward, very pleasant and hearty whisky.

First time buyer of an Irish single malt, wasn't let down, reminded me of an aberfeldy 12, sweet, fruity, fantastic, would buy again

Bought a bottle at Kilbeggan. The nose is a little floral to me but the top notes are yummy citrus cream. It finishes with a spicy note at the end that rounds it off without being too potent. I definitely get sweeter notes with this one, a good everyday whiskey from Cooley.

On my second bottle. The first one didn't last long enough for me to remember. Maybe it's because I bought it yesterday. All kidding aside, this is my current favorite, glad that someone told me about it!

Initial sniff - reminiscent of balsa cement. Taken with a drop of water the taste belies the initial impression. A smooth example of Irish single malt.

Decided to give it a shot. Not bad. Takes off as to be stiff but settles down to nice and creamy mellow. Tis a good drink.

Every bit as good as an Islay Scotch.

I stumbled on this whisky by chance, and was pleasantly surprised by its flavor and drinkability. You don't often find it in your local liquor store, but it is worth the effort to find. Very smooth and light with no bitter aftertaste.

If I ever see this one on the top shelf in a bar - it''s an instant decision. Every time. No smoke - it''s smooth, long and very creamy on the palate. A faultless Irish Single Malt.

Not that great for the price, but drinkable. B'Mills-10 anytime, anyday.

  • Pat 9 December 2013

Smooth with a lovely afterglow, good enough to rub shoulders with Bushmills and many others.

Appearance Light amber (seems like no colourant is present) Aroma Rosewater, turkish delight, blueberries, confectionary, candied fruits, wood, honey Palette Wood, creamy honey, menthol, with perhaps a hint of engine oil (?) Finish Dry, long lasting, refreshing Judgement Well worth the money!

    Bloody delicious.

flowery taste, easy drinking. a cheaper and a little oleaginous version of Japanese Suntory Hibiki Whisky 12y. A nice summer drink in my opinion

Martini whiskey.....anytime, any place, any where. The one to have while you're deciding,.....well,.....anything.

  • Kimmy 17 June 2010

This is among my favorites. It is very smooth, maybe even too smooth for some. Clean and refined, and delicious. It has flavor that is full but not overpowering. Leaves a little bit of bitterness behind to remember it by.
