Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Tasting notes by Billy Abbott, The Whisky Exchange
Nose
Crunchy caramel at first, with a touch of toffee sauce. Then fruity flavours emerge: green and roasted bananas, with hints of sharp red berries hiding behind. Rich lardy cake notes build – dark sugar, raisins and layers of buttery, enriched dough. Right at the back sit notes of barrel char and polished oak.
Palate
Butterscotch and toffee begin, with intensely fruity brown sugar notes and estery bananas following – ripe, overripe, roasted and foam banana sweets. Darker notes of liquorice and fruity dark chocolate lie underneath, with mint and thick, grainy caramelised sugar.
Finish
Toffee-filled chocolate and clove fade to leave butterscotch and bananas.
Comment
Rich and sweet, but never cloying. Complex and well-balanced with no spikiness, and surprisingly easy-drinking despite its high-strength.
Tasting notes from the producer
Nose
Intense, with a classic Bajan profile of vanilla and dried fruits with a touch more smoke and spice due to the high ABV.
Palate
Rich, deep notes of oak and spice at first, followed by some vanilla and dark chocolate and touches of baked banana. Warming. With water a little less oaky spice and more dried fruits. Entices you back to the glass for another sip.

Excellent rum. Straight from the bottle the alcohol is overpowering, but with a dash of water it opens up, and is a match for any cognac. Complex vanilla, fruit, and floral flavours. Expensive, but worth it.
Phenomenal – the first sip is a flavour explosion. Every subsequent drink is interesting and different. The taste profile above is spot on. Tried this for the first time at a tasting in Melbourne and ordered a bottle on the spot. No regrets.
Bought as a present for a Rum lover and he was over the moon with it.
This is stellar stuff. The best rum I've ever had. Foursquare is leading the world of rum right now. An excellent reason to avoid adulterated Venezuelan and Guatemalan ****!
Tried this at the London Whisky Show yesterday. Awesome rum, sophisticated, robust and powerful. A real treat
