This super-premium sambuca was created in 1945 by Commendatore Angelo Molinari, and is credited with popularising sambuca in the post-war Italian domestic market. Molinari is the only Italian sambuca legally allowed to use the word 'Extra' to denote its superior status.

Always drunk Sambuca Molinari extra over other Sambuca brands. In Italy it is 42 proof. You can’t normally buy this in the shops or wine stores I normally buy 70cl bottles but 50cl only bottle available Good value though. Just means I have to buy more
I have been buying Molinari Extra sambuca for nearly 40 years and it is certainly the best one on the market. I have the Molinari shot glasses, but l prefer to savour the intense flavour and smoothness, not drink it as a shot. It can be enjoyed over ice, but I prefer as a liqueur with coffee after dinner, and sometimes with coffee beans and set alight. It is often difficult to find a retailer that sells it but worth the effort. Yes it is very sweet but I love its uniqueness.
