Havana Club 7 Year Old Rum Reviews

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting Notes by Stuart P

Nose: Rich but not cloying. Roasted nuts and appealing bitterness.

Palate: Good balance between sweet vanilla and toasty oak. Classy stuff.

Finish: The woodiness prevails, outlasting the creamy vanilla.

It's really the best rum in the world.

Simply the best I enjoy it mixed or on the rocks, used to have to goto Mexico but now I enjoy it here.

Just got a bottle of this. Unlike scotch, the "7" years refers to the age of the oldest rum in the bottle, not the youngest... Just to make you aware. However it is a well made, clean spirt with plenty of chocolate and liquorice flavours and I''m enjoying it immensely.

I first enjoyed Havana Club while working in Nicaragua about 20 years ago. This is truly a delicious sipping rum with crisp sweetness that lingers on the palette. When friends request a rum and coke I break out the Barcardi, but when they want real taste, I insist they try the Havana

This is severely underpriced, just cause americans can't buy it. So enjoy it: neat, on ice or in cocktails, it's the best room for my money. Long live the Revolution!

The Havana Club 7 year old rum is a extremely smooth and clean tasting dark rum. With no carmel taste like so many dark rums have. It is my favorite rum, enough to pay the premium to ship to the US. I look forward to try other Havana Club Dark rums.

One of my favourite all rounders. HC7 does away with that bitter initial flavour some rums have and takes you straight into the goodness, straight or mixed. With coke you get the toffee caramel flavours and makes great cocktails too. Another use HC7 is for desserts. Awesome when you add a shot to some ice cream, and makes some great tasting rum butter-cream.

I have been drinking this since I visited Cuba back in '99 I was 21 then and I've yet to find a better rum, I buy this on import in the UK as it is very hard to find in the shops.

I agree that this rum is slightly lacking in complexity, but it's still great value for money in it's class. Certainly a more complex and less bitter rum than Chairmans reserve which itself is pretty good, but Flor de Cana 7 is better.

Best rum- only can enjoy it when traveling outside us.

    Havana club is great!

  • Copenhagen Nights 23 February 2013

Overrated it seems. If you want elegant whisky-like, Bacardi 8 is better. If you want dark rum, Anejo Reserva is better. and so is Bacardi Black.

    excellent

I don't always drink excellent rum... but when I do, it's Havana Club Anejo. ;)

  • Noz 26 March 2012

I don't think Havana Club make a bad rum but this is one of their best and at this price just amazing. This is sipping quality rum that's smooth and interesting neat and very good mixed. It's especially good with a little coke developing rich, caramel flavours. If anyone can tell me another rum this smooth and rich for £21 I really want to know about it.
