A very special amber Caribbean blended rum from Anguilla Rums Ltd in the West Indies. A real connoisseur's rum, with a sublimely orangey, spicy flavour and nuanced finish.

Tasting Notes

  • Judges' Comments from The International Cane Spirits Festival 2007

Orange and grapefruit marmalade aromas; medium-bodied with tangy flavors of citrus peel and dark honey. Finishes with spice and dried orange peel notes.

Lantern box was broken when i got the product but who cares? I had the rum for 2 weeks and decided to open it and just taste a little, but it was so I took a half a bottle. Best rum I have ever tasted. I need to order more!

It took me awhile to warm up to it with somewhat pronounced orange flavor, almost Southern Comfort like, but it's much more complex and now I dig it neat. It's not your typical rum though, for sure. Rum aficionados are probably looking for something more classic.

It's a crime to mix this, buy two bottles as one will not last long,ansom....

This rum is pretty unique, so id recommend it for the collector of versatility; however...I don't recommend it for an end all, best rum, only drink Ull ever need kind of spirit. I find the Orange burst of flavor to be a little much...almost annoyingly so. The glass is nice, but all other factors aside, definitely try before you buy. It's a gamble

A very fine rum, diplomatico exclusivo reserva, santa teresa 1796 or el dorado 12 year old preferred

My best ever Rum, packaging is STUNNING, made from hand blow glass. Purchased this in Anguilla, where it is made as well as investing in the cask for circa £150 at the time (a reasonable £219 on this site now) and honestly I prefer this XO, £36 is an absolute bargain! Makes an exquisite gift too. Fruity and smooth with a lovely lingering after taste.

Like a glass of alcoholic marmalade, with rum like characteristics. A pleasent enough experience!

I am a rum connoisseur and this is one of the best tasting rums that can be found in most local stores. Sure there may be finer rums, but for the price range you won't find any. If you think Bacardi is good rum, then this is not for you.

This is NOT a 'connoisseur's' rum - a real rum connoisseur likes to taste rum - not orange flavour in the rum!

Beautiful sipper. Slightly smokey with orange notes. Fruitier than my normal favourites but def a top hitter. Lovely lingering aftertaste!I'll try the Pyrat cask next time

A top class rum, right up there with the best I have tried. Definitely one to be drunk neat though. Sometimes I want a rum I can add ice lime and ginger to, the likes of which this is not. I was reluctant to relinquish the empty glass, the complex bouquet, legs and sweet smooth vanilla aroma lasted that long. Worth the price but only if if you insanely rich or insanely well self restrained or just wanting a treat. Compromises are what life is made of though I suppose. 5/5.

This is a fantastic rum, have been working my way through most of the rum's on this site and this is one of the best i have tasted. The flavours are sweet and smooth with a fruity after taste!!!

  • Moles Friend 8 April 2010

A bit over packaged but the rum in side the bottle is and vanilla flavors are very much there - not overpowering but very clearly defined. First class.....highly recommended.

I don't think it can even be compared to Matusalem... This is a top rum in the british style, full of juicy oranges (Demerara), probably the smoothest spirit out there. Simply leaves you stunned.

  • Hugo 11 September 2009

Is this better than Matusalem 15 year?

  • Alistair Smith 8 June 2008

This is one of my current favourites (and was in fact the rum that first got me into premium aged rums). So many flavours and smells, and it has a nice kick to it. One thing I would say is drink this without any additions (no ice!!) as it tends to kill some of the taste. I tried it on the rocks once but never again!

I picked up a bottle at a back street shop in Dubai (don't ask!), and I am now enjoying a Pyrat XO Classic Daiquiri which is absolutely sublime.
