Tasting notes are spot on. Probably one of the best I’ve ever tried…. Certainly in my top 5 which is saying something over my vast collection. Definitely not one to be missed.
I poured a dram into my Glencairn and waited 10 odd minutes. No wafts of flavour reached me and I was just one metre away! Tame on the nose. Nothing really, till patience rewards you with distant fruit; green apple skin and honeyed sweetness. Thin and legless in the glass. Mild and thin. Sweet coating, hint of spice. Turned bitter soon. Short finish, spice and bitter gourd. Very disappointed.
Very watered down, no legs. Stewed apples on the nose; malt, wood and vanilla follow. To taste, peppery, vanilla, mixed fruits. Waiting for 10 minutes before reaching for the glass improves both the nose and palate markedly. The finish is short, but intensely sweet. Fades into slight bitterness through some spicy flickers. Too thin for me.
The official tasting notes for this are spot on, which is relatively rare. Nose is very fruity, lemon zest. Taste - Strong black currant, honey, touch of vanilla and fresh sour apples on the finish. Mouthfeel is weak and watery. The taste is good, but it feels too watered down and doesn't live up to its potential. So close, but no cigar. Sadly.
