Product Description

A 2002-vintage Longmorn from Signatory, selected by and bottled exclusively for The Whisky Exchange. We love Longmorn, and this bourbon-barrel-matured single-cask bottling showcases the fruitiness that so often gets lost in drams from the distillery. It was distilled on 17 September 2002 and bottled on 5 May 2020.

Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

  • Billy Abbott, The Whisky Exchange

    • Nose

Poached pears in a leather satchel, with a bag of candied peel and a tin of travel sweets. perfumed apricot and peach notes build, along with some sharp nectarine. Coffee pastilles sit at the back – bittersweet and rich.

    • Palate

Toffee leads, with cappuccino sweetness following. The fruit from the nose pushes through the cream: orchard and stone fruit with a touch of mint and a hint of green bark. The creaminess builds – whipped cream and frothy coffees, with darker caramel notes balancing the sweetness.

    • Finish

A burst of fruity sweetness fades to reveal sweet black coffee.

    • Comment

The smaller cask has allowed the whisky to take on a nice chunk of woody character, which has not overwhelmed the underlying spirit. It’s a well-balanced combination of creamy oak and fruity spirit.

    N.Y

It is delicious immediately after opening. Light pear fruit, floral scent. Flower nectar, La France, green apples, a little muscat, malty, creamy aftertaste, and finally sour and spicy finish. There are no unpleasant nuances.

    Fun With Peat And Sherry

Fruity, sweet, and tart on the nose, like a green apple jolly-rancher. Like nectar on the palate. Butter and hints of coffee and chocolate linger, but the tart fruitiness lingers as well. Simply gorgeous.
