Islay Trilogy 1969 / 36 Year Old
Product Description

A vatting of casks from three Islay distilleries: Bunnahabhain 1968 in Fresh Sherry; Bowmore 1969 in Bourbon and Bruichladdich 1966 in Bourbon. There seems to be some controversy over the actual age statement on this - it is listed as a 36 year-old, but there are claims that the casks were bottled in 2002/3 meaning it could only be a 34 year-old. It also only lists 1969 on the label for some reason.

Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

  • Bottler's Tasting Notes

    • Colour

      Ripe Golden Barley

    • Body

As rich and strong in depth of character as the men that made it .

    • Nose

Eucalyptus, charcoal and a lush heathery peat smoke fill the nostrils followed by citrus and heather honey notes, the Islay coastal influence is as clear as if you were on Kilchoman beach yourself.

    • Palate

Immediately you are enveloped in a West Cast embrace - the smoothness is incredible, lingering long on the palate and warming you from the inside out. The signature flavours of smoke and charcoal are there but are so softened and rounded by age that this is more liquid gold than fire and brimstone.

    • Finish

A unique and exceptional dram – three malts that combine so harmoniously it is obvious that they are kin.
