Product Description
Glendronach Allardice 18yo (named after the distillery's founder) has been 100% matured in oloroso sherry casks. It has been at the centre of the distillery's range since its 2000's relaunch and remains one of the best sherry-focused 18-year-old whiskies on the market. Chewy and fruity, with layers of soft spice, and rich raisins and dates.
When it comes to true powerhouse sherry-matured whiskies, it’s hard to beat most of the Glendronach range. The 18-year-old in particular maintains a beautiful balance between rich chocolate cake influence of the oloroso casks and meaty spirit character. Chris Bolton, The Whisky Exchange

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes by Billy Abbott, The Whisky Exchange
Nose
Big sugary raisins, dried cherries, dark chocolate, beefy edges, butter, cream, coffee, almonds and toffee. ‘Like a Starbucks Double Tall Cappucino, with fruit’ my more flowery note reads.
Palate
More raisins, Eccles cakes, sour plums, dates, cinnamon and allspice, with a big dark woody middle. Water brings out more sweet and sour fruit, with a hint of Worcester sauce, as well as more spice, and simplifies the flavour.
Finish
Sugared almonds and butter, with a bit of grainy wood leading to grape-skin tannins.
Comment
A filthy whisky, and I mean that as high praise.

Rich and fruity - above average intensity and classy - surprising how quickly I'm getting through it
Gorgeous. Went far too quickly.
I gave not yet it is for a special day that is fixing to come up. Great job on packing it. We will emailing you back on the taste, everyone be safe Thanks.
I'm a fan of Glendronach and also Glenfarclas, Blair Athol and Aberlour. I've had this 18 year old Allardice before and it was simply stunning. Rich christmas cake, with cherry and orange and a lovely smooth oily texture. Was perfect and everything else that followed if for the next few months tasted bland and disappointing. This latest bottle was a little disappointing though as there just wasn't anywhere near as much flavour as before and the texture was not as oily/syrupy as last time. Maybe it needed to stand for longer as it was drunk within 2 weeks. Previous sample was decandent so possibly? But it has made me cautious about buying in future as whilst it is still very nice this bottle didn't feel that special to warrant the price compared to Glenfarclas 15 , Blair Athol 12 Flora and Fauna and Aberlour A'Bunadh which are half the price in some cases. I'll buy again but will leave standing for a while before drinking.
Tried in a tasting and had to buy a bottle. So good. What a nose!
