Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting notes by Billy Abbott (The Whisky Exchange)

    • Nose

Tarte tatin with a grind of black pepper. Fruit mingles with wax-polished oak, and hints of spiced butter and marzipan emerge. Fresher sweet notes build: honeysuckle, heathery meadows and candy bracelets.

    • Palate

Buttery mouthfeel. Thick apple sauce and spiced pastry sprinkled with a pinch of fresh mint. Complex layers of oak develop: polished, spicy, butter and fragrant. Candied notes sit on top, seeping into the cracks. Damp and leafy rancio slumbers beneath.

    • Finish

Damp oak leads to toffee, tarragon and a hint of mint.

    • Comment

Old and elegant, with aged flavours balanced by fresh fruit and zingy herbs.

This is delicious on nose, palate and finish. Takes water well. The tasting notes here and by other renown bloggers are accurate. Lovely apricot and peach fruits, honey, light orange cake, a tinge of spice. A refreshing break from the typical heavy fill sherry casks. Refill casks are always the best.
