Glenallachie 43 Year Old / Sherry Cask / Director's Special
Product Description

A well-aged, very-sherried release from Elixir Distiller's Director's Special range – a 43-year-old single cask from Glenallachie. This was matured in a sherry butt for its whole life, as you can tell from its ruby colour. It's a sister cask of the whisky we released for The Whisky Exchange's tenth anniversary, and this is even better than that excellent bottling – big, rich and sherried.

Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

  • Producer

    • Nose

Gunpowder smoke and dark, bitter chocolate with cured beef and balsamic vinegar glaze. Herbal notes follow, paired with thick cut orange slices cooked in red wine with cloves and cardamom. More meaty and spicy notes develop: salami, pastrami and black pepper.

    • Palate

Chocolate stout with citrus and cherries sit heavily on the tongue and coat the palate. Rich and creamy espresso coffee blends with walnuts, peppercorns, bittersweet navel oranges and tobacco. The flavours combine to give a bitterness akin to a perfectly made Negroni cocktail.

    • Finish

Cigar smoke, blood orange and toasted nutmeg.
