It’s rare to see Mortlach matured entirely in American oak, but this single bourbon barrel reveals a fascinating side of this old Speysider’s spirit. The meaty, savoury side of Mortlach is present as expected, but there are also fruity notes of apple, pear and pineapple alongside hints of candied almond, hazelnuts and roasted peanuts. A dash of water reveals more fruits and aromatic spices before a long, palate coating finish. Another great cask from Signatory Vintage that we are proud to offer exclusively to The Whisky Exchange customers.

Tasting Notes

- Nose
  Salted butter, a little dry cured ham, and fruity notes of crab apple jelly and pineapple. Then candied walnuts, peanuts and hazelnuts.
- Palate
  Shortbread, stewed apples and pears, plum wine, toffee, pineapple cubes, and ginger beer. That spiciness persists with cassia, turmeric, and a prickle of dry oak.
- Finish
  The creamy toffee notes stay on the palate along with bags of roasted nuts and dried stone fruit.
