This is a nice bourbon - not sure its worth all the hype it gets - first taste is heat from the alcohol then fades to a creamy caramel which is lovely. I've had smoother but its worth a try if you have not had it.
A bargain, one of the best.
finally, ole henry 10 showed back up here in pennsylvania...it's going down faster than my Blanton's...this specific barrel--3823--is from 8-31-07...a little different from another barrel i had a few weeks before...this one exhibits some mint notes, almost camphor-like, even anisette...oak is present...i like that it changes nicely given a little air...my palate, too, seems more receptive at times...always worth the $28-30 price tag...tastes like a $50 whiskey. RECOMMENDED! of course, your bottle may exhibit much more divergent notes...the last bottle i had was more rich and toasty/buttery...where that barrel sits in the rickhouse makes quite a difference....would love a barrel-proof version...but BIB is spot on nonetheless...cheers!
One of my favorites and I've shared it with friends, that are know Fan's of Henry McKenna, Pappy Van Winkle, Michter's, and Blanton's.
This is an amazing Bourbon, right up there with Michter's, Pappy Van Winkle.
