Tasting Notes by The Whisky Exchange
Nose: Fragrant, honeyed and sweet, with ripe apricots, honey and sweet white chocolate.
Palate: Mint toffee, caramelised oranges and baked apricot lead to honeycomb, almonds and dates.
Finish: Rich and syrupy, with caramelised citrus and pears fading to fudge and mint.

Producer's Tasting Notes
Colour: Light gold.
Nose: Fragrant, honeyed and sweet. Some ripe apricots, mead-like, and a curious minerally/flinty note, followed by some sweet white chocolate.
Taste: An initial burst of mint toffee, with baked fruits such as caramelised oranges and apricots, lots of honeycomb, almonds and dates.
Finish: A rich, syrupy aftertaste, with more caramelised citrus and pears, some creamy fudge, but always an intriguing mentholic/eucalyptus sensation in the background.

Tasting notes by Stuart Peskett
Nose: Rich, sweet notes of buttered toast and popcorn, along with brioche and milk chocolate, then fruitier notes of cherry, strawberry and dried fruit.
Palate: Spicier on the palate, with cinnamon, clove and violets. Roasted almonds, more milk chocolate and candied orange arrive, along with hints of red fruits. A drop of water brings out more fruity and floral notes.
Finish: The rich spiciness lingers.
Comment: Much richer than The Original, Bacalta ramps up the toasty spiciness. The 46% ABV is another plus, giving a satisfying mouthfeel.

It's alright, but it's got a lot of unstructured and flat young spirit which makes it taste a little like a flavourful malt diluted with vodka. Another overpriced NAS..... Get your age statement whiskies while you can folks.

I'm new to the whisky tasting notes game....so....so far I either like or don't like.....and this bacalta I really like!!!! I have a sweet palate and have learned to go by style than character...as you can see it has a 5 star for sweetness and that's what you go by....rather than the sweet characters of Tomatin tawny port 14 year old....which i definitely don't like!!

Not a great whisky at all. A lot of burn for something this expensive.

Wonderful spice, with great fruit and honey. The cask influence is superb. Highly recommended.

Lovely apricot, almond and honey flavors. This one is not to be missed.
